After reading KU-TU-LIU-CHIANG, We were deeply moved by it. We realized ”being alone” isn’t completely bad. Therefore, we start to note the strength of being alone, and try to convey the idea that being alone is wonderful to all spectators. On one occasion, we met a teacher who sincerely told us to hold a tree to experience being alone, and therefore we started our journey.
Look for our true selves in nature
In the woods, we talked to trees and heard the voice of the Earth. In silence, thoughts buried deeply in our mind became even clearer. The voice we heard－illusion we thought at first－turned out to be the voice of our inner selves. What we experienced in nature helped us to find our inner selves and know ourselves in a new way. This process of knowing ourselves is the thing that we would like to share with you.
The idea that we want to convey
The theme of the exhibition changed constantly as we changed in different phases. We sensed and expressed in different ways. We felt exhausted and confused in every discussion－what should we present in our exhibition? When a new idea emerged, we needed to examine the theme of the exhibition again. How to integrate these ideas and express our thoughts clearly was the most challenging. We had to drop many ideas. We conflicted with one another and felt sorry for it from time to time.
It has to be us
As we created, the feedback we got from our creation was a lot. Different individuals and different ways of thinking were brought together. Although we enjoyed the process of compromise and communication were indispensable. It seemed to be easy to do what we are good at and put our true feelings into the works, but in reality, it wasn’t that easy. However, we were lucky to be able to stick to the ideas that we wanted to express－our true selves－focus on ourselves, try to accept ourselves and realize our individual worth in any stage of our lives.
